TOC4U - If your goal is to make money

This webpage is dedicated to all out there, having read "the Goal" and started working on the weakest link in their organizations. We know that managing the organizations is best done by focusing on the weakest link, exploit the link, have the other links subordinate to it and finally elevate it. The next step is .....find the weakest link..

Constraints can be seen as a function of 2 variables: Capacity and demand. In order to understand if the constraint is internal one can ask: "What is larger demand or capacity?" and "Is the system capable of fully and immediately satisfying the demand placed on it?" The answers to these questions tell, whether the constraint is inside or outside of the system. If the system can't keep up with demand, the constraint is internal - it resides within the system. If the system has slack capacity - the complete system, not just a few components- the constraint is external.

Fact is: There will always be a constraint, either external or internal, to improved system performance. The question is: Do we choose to manage the constraints, or do we let constraints manage us??
